You could replace some of the sweet almond oil with 1/2-1 teaspoon of castor oil. And tea tree, orange, or frankincense would all work well here. Lemon is phototoxic if used above 2% and peppermint and eucalyptus may feel too strong on the skin.

How much would i use for the oil? Also wondering if I don’t have lemongrass or rosemary what could be a good sub? (Lemon, tea tree, eucalyptus, orange, peppermint, frankincense? These are what i have)

The essential oils provide health benefits for the beard and face, not just scent, but they could be omitted if preferred. The beard oil probably wouldn’t work as well though. Essential oils can degrade plastic and the dark color helps prevent the oils from oxidizing as quickly. Katie doesn’t recommend using plastic because of the issues with hormone-disrupting chemicals and other health and environmental concerns. That said, you could use plastic if you wanted to.

Could it be put in a clear hard plastic bottle? I have a ton of clear plastic bottles this would be perfect for! Also, do I have to add the essential oils, or could it be made fragrance free?

I would like to make this beard oil for my son but he is allergic to tree nuts. What oil can I substitute for the almond oil?

By the way I love your site. It’s the first site I found when I started using essential oils two years ago. I’ve made your lotion bars and your sugar scrubs with great success. I’ve learned so much from you and I just wanted to say thank you. I just joined your VIP group ?

Any other liquid oil can be used in its place so you can pick one that you like and substitute.

I love your site with all its useful information. I found your elderberry syrup recipe and my family has been using that to fight off colds.

I’m just wondering if I can replace argan oil with something else. Would love to hear what you have to say.

I know castor oils is more sticky and would like to retain the desired texture of your recipe. Please let me know thanks!

You combine all of the oils, but can always customize or leave out the essential oils.

½ oz argan oil (14 grams )
¼ oz jojoba oil (7 grams)
¼ oz sweet almond oil (7 grams)
and all the essential oils …
Or just pick one & pick one essential oil?

My husband has had a beard for 4 years now and I was unaware of his lack of upkeep towards his beard and skin. So I checked his skin out and realized that it needed some love! There was alot of inflammation and dry skin. I went to Wellness Mama immediately for a diy recipe (wellness mama is my “go-to” when making diy products, thank you for all the research I don’t have to do! ).
I made this beard oil for my husband and he immediately noticed the difference and now after using it for a while his beard and skin look happy too. Praise God!

Do you weigh them on a scale? Measure them with baking measuring spoons or just how?

Those are mentioned but they aren’t in the recipe. Are they okay to add with the other oils?
