You can add a little more filtered and boiled or distilled water to it to reach the full amount of liquid in the recipe or you could just take a little less. There’s wiggle room with the dosing in this recipe.

Thank you!

Could some of the wax be replaced with tallow, since it’s fairly firm at room temp? I don’t like wax anyway, but I know it helps keep it solid.

It may need to cool longer. If it’s still too thin for you then you can gently re-melt and add some more beeswax.

Shower steamers and bath bombs can be tricky to make because of their moisture content. Making them on a really humid day or in an area where there’s a lot of moisture in the air can even have a negative effect. If there’s too much liquid added then they’ll start to fizz prematurely. If you don’t add enough liquid, then the dry ingredients won’t stick together. The mixture comes together more once it’s pressed into the mold and dried and should feel like wet sand when making a sand castle. If you’ve already tried adjusting the added liquid, then you could always just use them as a bath fizzy instead. You can store the powder mixture in an airtight container and add a tablespoon or two to bath water.

Katie had purchased a Cuisinart ice cream maker years ago and that’s the brand she originally had. The article has recently been updated to instead link to this ice cream maker. It has an uncoated stainless steel interior.

You could probably use the juice instead of the water and omit the dried elderberries.

Here’s a more natural option that Katie recommends. You could look at their site and see if it would be a good fit for your needs. It does contain some hydrogen peroxide (which naturally occurs in hair), but it’s formulated in a way to help restore grey hair’s natural color. https://www.myhairprint.com/?rfsn=2062811.9e4f7

Katie drinks salt water but she also uses a variety of minerals from different sources, depending on what she feels like her body needs that day. There are some more details on what she uses here. https://wellnessmama.com/remedies/mineral-drink/ https://wellnessmama.com/health/make-sole/

It depends on the sugar content. Usually syrups with enough sugar can be shelf stable for a little while, but refrigerating it is the safest option.

If the liquid is boiling then the water will evaporate faster. You can always just add some more distilled or filtered and boiled water to the resulting liquid to ensure you have enough.

The tree Cinnamomum verum is distilled to make cinnamon bark essential oil and cinnamon leaf essential oil. There’s a high risk of sensitization with both and cinnamon bark should be generally used at a maximum dilution of .07% on skin and some aromatherapists caution against using it topically period. Cinnamon leaf can be used at a maximum dilution of .2% on the lips but again the risk of sensitization is high. Cinnamomum cassia essential oil, which is what you’re referring to has the same sensitization concerns and has a maximum dilution ratio of .05% on the skin, which is even less than Cinnamomum verum. So cassia is less safe to use topically and there’s a high risk of it causing lip damage.

Genevieve from Mama Natural also clarifies in the comments that she still thinks the benefits of oil pulling outweigh the bad with fillings. There are other sources, specifically holistic dentists, who do recommend oil pulling even with amalgam fillings. Here’s one such opinion. https://www.calmingfears.com/blog-indianapolis/safe-oil-pull-amalgams Ultimately it depends on your personal choice.
