Do they have all these chemicals? I can’t drink most California reds without a headache and am fine with European wines. Thx!

From time to time she will send me one of your podcasts to listen to, and I’ve always found them informative and well- researched. But the most recent episode with Todd White has left me questioning things.

The entire episode was an ode to drinking and felt like an hour-long commercial not just for Dry Farms Wine, but for a wine-filled life fueled by the wonderfully healthful products only available from there. Mr. White’s numerous references to his love of drinking and how much he drinks (1-2 bottles?) sound like the self-absorbed justifications of a functional alcoholic in deep denial about his illness.

I’m not a tea-totaler, but my occasional decision to imbibe doesn’t occupy my thoughts every day. Listening to the two of you share your drinking rules and tips about how to avoid feeling bad the next day was like listening to a couple of frat boys looking forward to their next kegger.

Alcohol is both a toxin and – according to the WHO – a carcinogen. No amount is healthful, despite the many attempts by the alcohol industry (of which Mr. White is a member) to claim otherwise. It has no place in a healthful diet, but like most people I believe in the “all things in moderation” approach. It’s clear that Mr. White does not, and his glorification of drinking along with his level of consumption got to be a little disturbing.

I wouldn’t have been any more surprised if you’d had Ronald McDonald on to tout the benefits of the Big Mac. To put it simply, this episode was highly disappointing and, in my view, undermines your credibility as a nutrition expert and health coach.
