However, the idea of two wives makes me take a giant pause. That to me is a deal breaker. I am really disappointed that this podcast was aired. I will tread lightly as I consider listening to future podcasts.

He clearly doesn’t understand the aspects he so sharply criticizes. Many Old Testament laws were designed to protect women and none make them “second class” if you actually study and understand what’s going on. For example, looking out for women while they are having their periods so they’re not coerced or forced to have sex. Protection, not degrading.

I can and frequently do listen to those with different beliefs and opinions. I can handle that. But this podcast crossed a very different line. I have come to expect so much more from Katie and her team. Paul Chek revealed himself here as an extremely toxic practitioner to be avoided. Wellness Mama, we expect better from you.

I also agree with Brett’s comments. The level of disrespect expressed by Mr. Chek was such that I think this episode should not have been aired.

I also very much agree with Tasha and Brett. I hope that Mr Chek can find a place to explore the falsities that he has believed over the years and which he unfortunately proclaims that his entire system is based on. I would also be interested to meet his two wives. I generally love this podcast and the ways it opens my eyes to new things and new products. But this episode was a no-thank-you.

I could not agree more, Brett. You took the words right out of my mouth. His comments about Abrahamic religions, which zoomed in more and more on Christianity as the interview progressed, were incredibly harsh and reflected a very narrow understanding. I have loved every interview I’ve ever heard on this podcast and find it to be an invaluable resource. Until this episode. I forced myself to listen to the whole thing… for perspective??? I’m all for having my worldview challenged… but wow. This one was rough.

I even appreciate the episodes that challenge my preconceived notions. Although this episode was framed as such, I found it frustrating and belittling as Mr. Chek made specific, derogatory statements about faith systems that were misunderstood if not completely false. I didn’t find it challenging as a person of faith, (as framed in other interviews) but rather I found it belittling and isolating as he attacked aspects of specifically Christianity which felt more like he had a bone to pick from past experiences vs having a constructive conversation. Again, I love and appreciate 99% of the interviews, but this one was very disappointing.

It’s a woman/mother thing- regardless of religion. I am a Catholic mother and all the women that I know, whom are Christian, understand self-sacrifice, but not to the point where we feel or are second class. That’s funny to me because we know our strength and the important position we hold in our families and in society. Anyway- I believe that mothers (regardless of religion) bear more stress than a father because it’s our nature and always has been. With that being said, we must make time for ourselves!
