Since you used different ingredients than Katie’s recipe, it could be from the ingredients used. If it doesn’t smell rancid or bad it’s likely still fine to use though.

It also works very well as a moisturizer and I use it daily after showering, even on days that I am not swimming. However, my cream is more like a butter and is starting to turn dark goldish orange. Do you know why the color change from the light yellow when first made?

And if so, would it be most helpful to take it before or after (or both)? Thank you so much for the thoughtful content you post.

You could use 2 teaspoons of vitamin C powder for every 1 cup of lotion or sunscreen.

It does not seem to be available on Amazon, but you may be able to find it at a local hardware or pool supply store. There are a few other websites online that sell the 35% concentration.

The link you posted for hydrogen peroxide takes me to a 3% concentration, rather than 35%. I also got a notice that 12% is the strongest concentration allowed to be sold on Amazon. Could you please share where to find the 35% strength? I am also hoping to use it in bathroom and kitchen cleaning recipes.

I’ve been swimming for along time but for some reason I have atopical dermatitis and I flare up if I swim what do I do??im on DUPIXENT for 3 months but still itching

You would add 2 tsps of vitamin C powder for every 1-1 and 1/4 cup of sunscreen. It may not mix in thoroughly because vitamin C is water soluble

I use Suntegrity, which only uses physical barriers.

I’ve been researching so long. I can’t afford a natural pool, or big bottomless stock tank, & our swimming pond is getting hard to keep balanced with good bacteria. Thanks to anyone who’s had success here!

My mom was a competitive swimmer for 30 years, she swam until 6 months pregnant with me. And put me in a pool since 6 months of age…She is now 63 and on thyroid medication, I always wondered if the constant chlorine exposure had anything to do with her thyroid problems. I got her a Berkey filter to try to help reduce her chlorine and fluoride exposure.

My private and expensive gym never cleaned the grease off the pool walls, right where I touch to turn. Never cleaned the tiles in the 15 years I went there. But those were very lazy lifeguards. I worked as a guard for a summer and did plenty of pool cleaning myself. Cleaning the tiles at the water line was literally a 30 min job.

I feel like we’d use it up very quickly?

It separates the sodium chloride into salt and chlorine. Chlorine is needed to kill algae as well as bacteria. A swimmer smells like chlorine (which is actually the chloromines) because the chlorine is going after the bacteria on your skin. Showering before entering the pool will decrease that. Another possibility is to use hydrogen peroxide on your skin after swimming or something to remove the residual chlorine. Water alone does not take away the smell. If pool owners properly cared for their pools, you would not smell chlorine gas and you would not smell like chlorine after swimming in them.

The important ingredient of the lotion recipe is the Vitamin C powder as long as it has that in it you should be able to customize it how you like
