Even if its cloudy outside you’ll still get some of the benefits of sunlight.

First, thank you so much for your podcast, blog and website! But most of all for all the research you do before bringing the information to readers/listeners.

I just finished listening to this episode on sunlight and have a question. You mentioned not wearing sunglasses and I am curious if hats would also deliver the same message to the body. Or would hats be different? I have been a non sunscreen user for a few years, for me and my kids. The only time I have used sunscreen on the kids is if we are going to be in the sun for an extended period of time (several hours) when the sun is at its hottest. And then typically I don’t use conventional sunscreen that has all the bad stuff. But, our family does like to wear hats so the glare of the sun isn’t so bad. What are your thoughts on hats?

Been listening for years, and I’m listening to this episode after not hearing you for awhile, and I swear this isn’t…You. It’s like AI you speaking, the voice is weird, the pauses are unnatural and hard to listen to. It’s very distracting. Not sure if I’m crazy or what but just fyi.

The aha moment of this episode for me was when you mentioned getting morning light without wearing contact lenses. I have been wearing contacts since I was a teenager and put them in first thing when I wake up and take them out right before bed every day. I don’t like wearing glasses because my eyes are sensitive to the sun but maybe that’s because I always wear contacts. I didn’t think about the uv blocking function that is built into contacts and how this could be contributing to many problems like sleep issues, depression, etc.

Does the light still count through the fog? Love your blog! Thanks, Phyllis

I’m a relatively new listener to your podcast and I appreciate all the work you do! I’ve been dealing with a chronic headache issue for about 8 months and traditional medicine has done little to help. I’m getting a bit discouraged so I’ve been trying to take matters into my own hands. Please pray for me/send me good wellness vibes.

I’m pretty active and I’m outside quite a bit in the warmer months (I live in Roanoke, VA), but I would like to try to get the 10-15 minutes of morning light as you suggested to see if this can help with whatever chronic inflammation has settled in my body. My question is this: the sun rises here about 6:30am, so I got up this morning and took a 20 minute walk around the neighborhood. This may seem a bit technical, but the sun was not directly hitting me because it was still so low in the sky and being blocked by houses and trees. Do I still get the benefit of sunlight even if it’s not directly in my line of vision? If I wait till it’s higher in the sky, it would probably be outside of that 30 minute window of waking up, and my kids are usually up and busy by then anyway so it would be harder to get out to do this.

Thanks for your help!
Elizabeth
