So, right now (and for the past few years) I’ve been purchasing our beef and pork from Butcherbox and our pastured/regeneratively raised chicken from Cooks Venture. It DOES get very expensive, but we don’t spend money on liquor, beer, cigarettes, soda, etc., so we figure this is a legitimate and healthy way to spend our money. Maybe boring, but… haha!

What you pay extra for in healthy eating you save when you don’t need/buy/use OTC or prescription drugs. Never too late to start eating healthy either. The more demand for organic the lower the prices will become. Thanks to everyone being more connected and able to do their own research, the world is finally catching on to the damage unhealthy food and lifestyle choices cause. The Bigs cannot suppress the truth for ever.

Most farms that practice grass fed and finished also is very little pesticide. Being the animals eat from the land. They also usually don’t use antibiotics, hormones, etc. It is more expensive, but I don’t eat it every day. I balance with wild caught fish., shrimp, turkey, chicken as well as a lot of meals that are vegetarian for a good balance. I buy from a company called Farm foods and they offer a lot of good sales, discount codes, and free shipping over $100.00. Sometimes I have a friend order with me if I can’t meat the minimum.

Someone as supposedly smart as Bill Gates should know better. Everyone would be a lot healthier if they would just eat real food. Thank you for your article.

More articles explaining the health benefits of grass fed beef are needed. Albeit grass fed pastured and finished is hard to find, I still have questions, though, as I am worried that eating grass fed beef may not be safe enough. What about antibiotics? What about herbicides or fungicides, etc. that may have been sprayed or placed on the pastures? Do we have evidence that grass fed is safe enough? Also, would love any advice or direction to studies, etc. which explain if there is inflammation of the gut after eating grass fed beef? I’m always hearing from the vegan world that eating meat causes inflammation, but do not reference grass fed or organic beef. Would love to know if there are any studies or evidence that grass fed beef does not cause inflammation! Have you found any evidence of such yet?

The Better Business Bureau is a pay to play scam. I never put any stock in what they say, as my experience with them and their reviews has not been good…

After congratulating ourselves over one meal in which we were able to make the meat particularly edible, we decided that it was time for a change. We looked to Butcher Box, but unfortunately the BBB profile is fairly dismal. US Wellness Meats has no BBB profile that I can find. After being alive for several decades, we have learned not to work with companies that don’t have a positive BBB profile. Suggestions for companies along the lines of Butcher Box and US Wellness Meats, but with good BBB profiles, would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I’m trying to balance hormones so eating their soy chicken will further throw off my estrogen levels.

My husband has moderate anemia, and it’s important for me to make sure that the meals I’m going to cook for him will help him to increase the hemoglobin in his blood. It’s necessary for me to choose carefully the meat that I’ll be using in every dish. I will make sure to consider buying grass-fed beef once I go shopping for groceries.

I’ve been trying to eat healthier lately and knowing that grass fed beef is better for me is great.

I cooked some ground grass-fed beef from a local source last night, and the fat was extremely bright red, and there was a lot of it. Is this normal with grass-fed beef?

Definitely tastes funny. We have been eating NO grocery store beef for almost 4 years, eat ground organic turkey and venison exclusively. However, my kids still get “regular” beef at school and occasionally at restaurants. We just arrived at our second home in Uruguay, and the first night I cooked ravioli with meat sauce, using local grass-fed beef. My 7-year-old said, “mommy, this meat tastes funny.” And I had to agree, it tasted “funny” to me too. Gamey, almost. And we’re accustomed to venison, it doesn’t get much more “gamey” than that!

We are on a tight budget and I’m wondering if I should make the switch to organic, grass-fed meat or just grass-fed. Suggestions?

Not because it’s the best-tasting cut (I’d choose a nice steak for that), but because it makes a wonderful stew and it’s quite cheap, even for grass-fed! Anytime anyone says “Grass-fed is too expensive” I tell them to check out beefheart. Tasty, economical, and  if you cut off the leaf fat you also end up with some lovely tallow on your hands. 😀

I have been amazed at the flavor of the meat. I enjoy red meat, but the grass-fed just has such an incredible flavor to it, I find it challenging to stop nibbling on it while I’m preparing dinner! It seems more like an entirely different meat compared to the conventional beef you get form the store. It does cost more, so my hubby and I decided that we would rather do vegetarian a couple nights a week so that we can afford to buy the better quality beef. It is totally worth it! Also, after three months of only grass fed, I tried a fast food burger. I was sick for 24 hours afterwards! Ick! It just goes to show how much better the good stuff is for our bodies. 🙂

When looking for grass fed beef make sure it is 100% grass fed. Just because it says organic doesn’t mean it’s 100% grass fed. Organic beef can be fed organic corn and you won’t get the benefits of grass fed.

We love it! eating other meats make us feel yucky.

pre-marinating gets rid of the “gamey” taste, in my opinion, but I’ve also heard of soaking it in raw milk…
